Gabe's Post - Chili Crab and Trains

Chili Crab. Chili and crab. Its so simple. As the one of the national dishes of Singapore, we had to try it. You order it by weight. Its some where between 38-58 dollars a kilo, me and Shreyas got just 600 grams for 30 dollars, or 15 each. I know what you are thinking, 300 grams of food each, that isn't enough for Gabe and Shreyas. But you are wrong. It was a lot of crab. It came in a Styrofoam plate, a 600 gram crab, covered in sweet chili sauce. Not chili like a chili pepper, but something similar to american chili. It didn't have beans but it did have about the same taste. There is no other way to eat it then to get your hands covered in the chili. Every bite into a crab was a mouthful of crab meat. It took some work to get the meat out of the claws, but every bite was so delicious you had to. It was sweet, filling, crabby, and just a bit spicy too. It went great with a Tiger beer and was well worth it.

Now the public transport. It is distance based for everything. Buses are 73 cents for the first 4 km, then another 8 cents or so for each additional 2 km. If you don't scan your card on the way out, they charge you the max fair of that bus. The trains are about the same, its roughly 83 cents for the first stop and around 10-20 cents for each additional one. If you get of a metro and hop on a bus in a reasonable amount of time, they only charge you the 8 cents per 2 km. True for the other way around as well.

  1. I would assume that everything tastes better with Tiger beer.
